This Kelly 32 is crafted in shiny Porosus crocodile, the smaller-scaled, saltwater species long considered the gold standard among Hermès exotics. Compared to Niloticus (farmed freshwater crocodile, more commonly used in Hermès production since the early 2000s), Porosus is prized for its tighter, more uniform scale pattern, finer grain, and the way it takes a polish — the glossy finish on this bag reads deeper and glassier than what Niloticus typically produces. Porosus skins were also historically harder to source in large, blemish-free cuts, which made early-to-mid '90s production like this one especially selective about skin matching at the time of construction.
